Thrift Store Score...

Extra Extra !!!!   Read all about it.  Guess what everybody.  I finally found something at the corner thrift store.  Seven crystal dessert glasses that actually ping  when you clink them.  Week after week.  Month after month I would trudge in there looking for something, anything that tickled my fancy.  I spied these beauties on a dusty shelf in the corner.  Just four dollars for the seven of them.  Yippee!!   A fellow blogger Cathy from Acorn Hollow  put the bee in my bonnet about thrift stores.  Cathy is an expert when it comes to thrifting..  The items Cathy finds are remarkable and she usually posts about them.  I hope it isn't another six months before I score another great deal.

  1. Susan these are great---I've been doing a lot of thrifting too. It's so satisfying when you nab something special. In fact I'm looking at two crystal bowls of teeny cherry tomatoes that I've set up for one of my next posts! Great minds think alike I guess!

  2. Yay! I love thrift store finds! I should post about things I get more often. Just a couple weeks ago I bought a number of Lantern Moon knitting needles (brand new) for 80 cents. I've found such pretty things so cheap. We have lots of pewter in this area, so it's easy to find something pretty. Your dessert glasses are truly beautiful! And they look wonderful set out with fresh fruit the way you arranged them. You have such a good eye for food!

  3. Those are gorgeous. They remind me of when I was a little girl and my parents would have dinner parties (late 60's early 70's) and everybody used those little dessert dishes when they were trying to be fancy. Note: that means we didn't use them every day (smile)

  4. I love thrift stores. I usually get old records (last great fine was Elsa Lanchester singing old bawdy songs!) and sometimes clothing, but those glasses are a true find!

  12. Like you, I visit thrift stores with such high hopes of finding the most fabulous thing and I leave disappointed and empty handed. I am always so jealous of what others find. I think my visits are not consistent enough to pay off.... Love the display.

  20. Glad you finally found something. Sometimes that is the way it is, you have to keep going back and then boom, there it is. Some thrift stores are better than others. I tried many of them, then decided to just frequent the ones that have better stuff. Pretty glasses, the fruit looks yummy, too.

  25. Your dessert dishes were a goog find. I have the same problem as you about not finding cute things or good deals. The merchandise in our thrift stores look like end of the day yard sale junk. I'm glad you finally found something useful and pretty. I will keep looking.---------Shannon

  28. Beautiful glasses! Over here we have charity shops (possibly the equivalent of your thrift stores?) which I love searching through, because every now and again you find something beautiful which everyone else has overlooked. So satisfying, on many levels!
