Something To Wine About......

When I find something that is of good value I love to share it with others. I stumbled across Cupcake Vineyards Wine quite by accident one weekend while at our neighborhood liquor store. I had popped in and was looking for a wine I had read a review about in a magazine.   I soon realized I didn't have my debit card and could not buy the wine that I had originally intended to.  Though I  searched through my wallet and pocketbook, I could come up with only ten dollars and some change.  Hmmm what to do?

Up and down the store aisles I went looking for a wine for ten dollars or less. Perhaps it was the attractive label that called to me to pick up the bottle.( Yellow, blue and white are all my favorite colors ).  The price was certainly right.   Whatever the reason was I'm thrilled I purchased it. The first bottle I bought was a Sauvignon Blanc.  It had that tangy and tart characteristic so popular with a Sauvignon Blanc.   Malbec same thing, full bodied and plumy.  Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot all excellent wine for the money.  We haven't had a bottle yet that wasn't.  Remember this is not a forty dollar bottle of wine,  but I believe you won't be disappointed.

Do you have a favorite wine that is a good value for your dollar?

  1. Thanks for the info. I haven't seen this wine before but I will look for it now. I like a nice dry red. I agree, if you can get something you like, it doesn't matter the price. No wine-snobs here!

  4. We've had Cupcake Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and have enjoyed both ... you're so right. Good wine for the price. I really like Bogle Phantom ... at $18 it's a deal for the body and flavor! I also love Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel, which is usually around $11 a bottle.

    Cheers!

  5. I haven't tried this, but will look for it.
Just over the hill there are 67 wineries here.
One of the newest is Four Vines, and they have an amazing Zinfandel. (This is on the Central Coast of California) The grapes are from Amador County, up in the goldrush country and were brought over from Italy in the mid 1800's.
I used to live right by a Zinfandel Vineyard and thats how I learned this. Anyway, its the best Zin for the money I've every had. 11.00

  6. Thanks for sharing. My hubby loves Frankenwein (Franconian Wine) like Bachus or Mueller Thurgau. It is only a few Euros per bottle, but is very good. Unfortunately they don't sell it in the Staates and I have to have it shipped from Germany.

  10. I love the label too! The best wine I have ever tasted was in France. Pinot gris from Alsace. It is so sweet and delicious it nearly makes me cry drinking it! No idea of the price in the US, but here... around 12 dollars. (and believe me, I am NOT a white wine person.. but this one was sublime).

  11. I agree it is a great wine for the dollar. There are several really good inexpensive wines out there. I almost always shop by the label. My husband and daughter laugh at me. I will not select a wine if the label is bland.

  12. Cupcake is a very good wine! We discovered it last year, thanks to my sister. She brought a bottle with her when she came to visit. I have bought it since and we haven't had an "off" bottle yet.
