A few years back at an after Christmas sale I bought these adorable red sparkling berries. They fit nicely on top of my lamps and add a festive look. Again, not a lot of effort. I'm still relaxing.
A little egg white and granulated sugar make ordinary fruit a little fancy. But enough for one day. I'll do a little more tomorrow.
These natural touches are my favorite Christmas decorations. Do the fruits last long like this? I have always wanted to do it and haven’t tried it before. Love it!

ive always wanted to see real fruit like this.
ReplyDeleteAll your little touches look wonderful. That little berry wreath on the lamp is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat basket of wood looks so cozy! I love your simple decorations.
ReplyDeleteVery nice decorations and the sparkly fruit looks great. Relaxing sounds like an excellent option. Susan
ReplyDeleteI applaud your efforts to decorate for Christmas so soon after Thanksgiving - I did nothing but relax!!!!!! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteWe just didn't have it in us to decorate this weekend...but we did get the outside of the house done. I am going to take my time with the inside this year!
ReplyDeleteLovely easy start of the Christmas preperations - love the fruit, will give it a go soon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the last bit of your weekend relaxation.
It all looks so inviting and lovely - thank you for sharing - and thanks for popping over the atlantic to my wee patch - means alot!
ReplyDeleteP.S. on Sunday morning....Good morning! Tried to send you an email but your email sign wouldn't open up. Anyway, wanted to thank you for always stopping by my blog and commenting. Thanks so much. Always love having you visit. Had a great day! Susan
ReplyDeleterule in our home is not decorations till the first weekend in December, which is next weekend... and I can barely contain my excitement... love your glazed fruit, what a lovely idea
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the countdown has finally started..
ReplyDeleteHave a great start to the new week! xx
Looks so pretty! Love the idea of the egg white and sugar on the fruit!
ReplyDeleteI love your gentle move towards Christmas decorating. The berry wreath is adorable. I too am wondering how long your fruits will last, probably a long time as sugar is a natural preservative (as long as the ants don't find it...)?

Thanks everyone for all your wonderful comments. The sugared fruit lasts about three weeks. I usually do this around the second week in December but I needed to get myself off the couch and this is very easy and fun.
ReplyDeleteI love your 'step into Christmas with baby steps' attitude! We have a few rules about Christmas in our house ... no Christmas music until Thanksgiving Day, no Christmas tree until after Mom's birthday (the 10th) and on the 11th break out the eggnog! Love the sugared fruit and natural touches ... do you ever cut winterberry by the side of the roads? We have favorite spots that we go to year after year to have red berries to add to the greens ... Hurray! You've got me in the spirit!
ReplyDeleteHi, nice post. I actually posted about the candied fruit a few weeks ago. I love your lab. I have a black lab as well, she is 14 yrs old. I have a Dobi and her name is Bella Luna. Your lab looks gorgeous.

So elegant and easy. I love the small touches even though I go over the top. But I am doing a lot of weeding out as I go.

ReplyDeleteWhen we are ready to decorate, we are ready- not a minute sooner.

I LOVE jeweled sparkly fruit.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Nice blog you have.
ReplyDeleteThe weekend after Thanksgiving is for relaxing here too. No black Friday stuff for me. Since the weather was balmy, I did decorate the porch railings, but that was it!
My family is super weird, we don't put the christmas tree up or decorate until a week before Christmas!
ReplyDeleteIt's probably better to get it done sooner, to get it over with.
I have always wanted to try coating fruit with sugar. Yours looks wonderful, I shall give it a try.
ReplyDeleteYou have created a delightful blog, I am so delighted I found it on Allison's blog.
