I'm loving the effectiveness of this all natural vinegar and orange cleaner. Not only does it clean the counters and make the kitchen smell great, but if I wanted to I could mix it with olive oil, salt and pepper and pour it over salad greens. Imagine that! The directions are simple. Take a couple of glass jars, place the peels of three or four oranges into each jar and cover with white vinegar. Let it sit for two weeks then strain into a clean spray bottle. No toxic ingredients or fumes. It works like a charm.
Just make sure to use organic oranges because the other ones sometimes have dyes and chemicals on them that you don't want in your cleaning products.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea. TheViking and I go through so many oranges I'd be crazy not to at least give this a go. Fab tip!
ReplyDeleteI think I will try it with lemons. I have lemons on my tree, but my oranges are being stubborn about setting fruit. It sounds wonderful! I have been really interested in making my own cleaners....
ReplyDeleteSounds to good to clean with.

I wish I knew this 2 weeks ago! I had some fabulous navel oranges, I could have made a huge batch! I have a few left, so I'm going to make this ASAP! I can only imagine how delicious everything smells in your home!
ReplyDeleteI started using vinegar when I lived in a house with laminate floors and nothing I used really got the clean.I put a 50/50 vinegar/water mix into a spray bottle and used my microfiber mop. The floor looked brand new in just a few minutes. It worked so well that I decided to get rid of all the chemical cleaners I hated to be using and spending lots of money on. Since vinegar is a natural disinfectant it can also be used to clean/sanitize any non-porous surface in the home. I bought a large jug of white vinegar a couple of yrs. ago for less than &5 and it is still half full. Great for cleaning the microwave, window screens, glass, windows and appliances too. I never thought about adding citrus, so thank for the information and instructions. I will be making a batch this week. I hope people give it a try and see how well it works. All those commercial cleaners are unhealthy for us & our pets to be breathing. The antibacterial agents in cleaners & soaps are making bacteria become resistant to antibiotics. Sometimes the simple is best.
ReplyDeleteMy mom said that vinegar is all they use to use to clean when she was a child. I love trying to find natural ways of cleaning . I agree about the antibacterial cleaners and soap. Good old fashioned soap and water is best. Thanks for the visit.
DeleteWhat a great idea!!!!! So simple!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I have a natural product I use with similar ingredients. Smells SO good and works to clean just about anything. I like a splash in a bucket of water to use on my hardwood floors!
