Now this is what I've been waiting for. A true New England Nor'Easter. The storm started yesterday afternoon and continued through out the night. I looked out my window to see snow swirling and drifting across my front lawn, the plows with their roaring engines on the roads, and the howling wind whipping the falling snow in all sorts of directions.
It was quite a sight to see and I couldn't have been happier to finally receive the heavy snow fall that I have been dreaming of this winter. Its been so cold without any snow for so long that I couldn't wait to run down to the bottom of my driveway and take a picture of this winter wonderland, (to document that we actually got snow this winter!)
The howling wind proved to be stronger than I thought! I brought Bella outside and discovered my snow covered garage. It almost looks as if someone splattered white paint on a picture. The extremely strong wind blew the snow so hard that it actually stuck to the side of my garage. It's beautiful and I hope that it will stay like this for a long time!
Oh how my little girl loves the snow! Jumping, running and playing in the snow, winter has proved to be one of Bella's favorite seasons. I watched this morning as my oldest son played with Bella in our front yard. Improvising on fun, he used a snow shovel to hurl snow in the air while Bella jumped straight up off the ground all the while trying to eat the falling snow. It was hilarious watching her little legs hop through the snow as fast as she could while trying to catch my son. Quickly snapping this picture of her anticipating my sons next move has become my most favorite picture of Bella!

so glad you got your snow... ours is melting a little although the weather report says there's more on the way later this week... isn't it funny about our labradors? Holly loves the snow soooo much and runs around like a puppy!
ReplyDeleteWe got it too.. doesn't everything look so much prettier with a blanket of snow? Even the dogs are more photogenic!... My dane loves it too..was going bonkers out there jumping around and eating it. Hopefully not getting sick from it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful storm! I'm so glad you finally got some snow. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great photo of Bella. I'm not as exited about the snow as you are! Ours was followed by freezing rain which made it so heavy to shovel. Now the snow has started again.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful. My lab also LOVES the snow. He is pretty sad that we haven't had any yet. Can you believe that we have to start watering our trees, so they won't dry out? We are hoping for some snow, soon.
ReplyDeleteOH YAY! Nothing better than a white winter~wonderland!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is one very sweet picture:)
oh we got the snow too and it is still snowing and blowing. But we are warm and cozy with no where to go so no complaints.

I love this white winter . . .so romantic!
ReplyDeleteThe snow is great if you don't have to go any where. Here in England the place grounds to a halt with a flake of snow but I guess you are more prepared over there. Hope you enjoy the winter wonderland.

How nice to finally get snow. I love the pictures of your dog.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how the snow clings to the side of the house and window! It must have been some storm! I've been watching pictures of your New England storm on yahoo everyday, and secretly feeling the same as you (I love harsh weather).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your blizzardy winter freeze, but stay inside by a warm crackling fire as much as you can. Be safe! Hugs from the heart!
Wow! Wasn't that wind something else? Whoa doggie. I loved "sweeping" the snow today, though. There was no way we could see our sidewalks until I swept through the "sea" of snow! Took quite awhile, too.
ReplyDeleteI've had the fire going in the fireplace the entire day and have loved every single second of it.
Bella is darling, by the way. What a cute dog. So glad she, like her "Mistress," loves the snow!
Let's hear it for blizzards! Hip hip hurray! I love New England! Susan
Bella is as beautiful as the snow and your house! Just groomed a black lab yesterday, wonderful dog!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the snow,
Karen in not so sunny but warm Arizona!
Merry Christmas to you & your family

Looks beautiful! Wow, Bella looks so happy. Enjoy the snow and happy holidays to you and you family!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you finally got your big snow. Our company has offices in Andover and they were closed today because of all the snow. I love the photos-they are beautiful. Bella is a beauty and I bet she had a blast in the snow. Enjoy it and stay warm :) Happy 2011!
ReplyDeleteWe are loving this first real taste of winter too! And what a taste! We've got a foot and a half here under Mt Monadnock. It must be that we are in the shadow of the mountain ... however, we love it. My little Corgis are soooo tired from trying to jump their way through the snow to catch their Frisbees! Happy New Year! Our fire is high tonight! I hope you are warm and cozy!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! We got our blizzard, too! The snow finally stopped but the wind is still howling! Love your pup! So cute :) Mine have been in and out all day, running around in it!
ReplyDeleteStay warm and safe!
raining here today, all the snow has melted...nice to have some for that real wintery feeling...but happy to see the back of it for now! enjoy the warm indoors! your puppy looks sooo happy!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks lovely! We've seen your snow storm on the TV news over here so it must be quite something! Why do labs love snow so much? We were walking on Christmas Eve in deep snow and Inca was beside herself with joy!
ReplyDeleteLove Kathy xxx
I'm so envious! I'm in Colorado where we would expect to have snow like this and there is nothing! Has made the holiday seem 'balmy'! Hoping you don't have to go anywhere and can hunker down and enjoy! Nothing better than being snowed in!
ReplyDeleteTruly gorgeous!!! I love all the fresh snow.
ReplyDeleteWell, you know I think you're nuts for wanting snow, LOL!!! The wind was insane, I can't remember sustained winds like that - ever! But the snow it is pretty! Bella must have been a blast to watch, I love her picture! Duke likes to run down the walk way and jump in the snowbank at the end!
ReplyDeletewinter has indeed arrived! and i m not fond of it. lucky you got some snow...we are just getting harsh wind here this winter
ReplyDeleteHow very happy I am that you have gotten "your" snow!! My Masala loves to romp in the snow just as Bella does. They would be great play partners! Much joy!
