Heart Broken........

I have been absent from blogging for sometime now.  I didn't have the time to devote to blogging. The decision to take care of my mother was an easy one. Plain and simple, she would have done it for me or any one of my brothers or sisters.   My mother started to feel tired in June and it continued all summer. She just never got better.  My beloved mother passed away the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I take comfort in knowing she is with my dad in Heaven and they are together again.  Smiling and loving each other as they did their whole lives.
I always had a good time with my mom and we shared so many laughs, so much of our precious lives together as mother and daughter. It seems that my mother is a part of  my very being.  My mother taught me so much and I really never knew I was learning a life lesson.  I learned how to cook my family's favorite foods, learned my love for Christmas, and learned not to talk about anyone's children.  She use to say, "Never say my child would never do that because as soon as you say it, your child will."  I have followed that advice my whole life. She also taught me that it is more important to be kind than right.  I like to think I do that too. My mother had a wonderful life.  She loved her family, the beach, raking, gardening, knitting, sewing and dessert.  She had good health, good kids and a great husband.  She was blessed and so are we.

  11. I didn't want to read this because I knew I'd cry. What a beautiful tribute to your mom!

Your mom was part of the greatest generation and she will be missed. She was beautiful on the outside and inside. Your mom was sparkling! She had a wonderful personality, a great laugh, was very stylishly dressed and always looked like she just stepped out of the beauty parlor - amazing, since she had six children!

I will miss hearing the kindness in her voice, and her saying hello to me when you & I would chat on the phone on Saturday mornings while the two of you were running errands!

It makes me smile when I imagine she's with the love of her life, cooking a nice Italian dinner for him in heaven!

    XO

  15. The Lord be with you! "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." One of my favorite Psalms. What a joyous reunion in heaven. Her photo shows a joyful person.

  17. Such a happy photo and your mom looks like she was one of those people that could light up a room when she walked in. I totally empathize you as my dad passed away at the end of October. Loosing a family member is a life changing experience. .. and one that can leave a hole in our hearts.

Take Care and in time, the days will be easier.

  19. Ohhhhhh, I was so happy to see your comment and went straight away to your blog. Then I was so sad to hear about your dear sweet Mom. What beautiful hair she had! And what a lovely legacy to her children.

I spent the last year of my Mom's life with her, too, and it was very special. I put up the last Christmas photo we had, me, Mom and my four sisters. That was in December, 2005. Then, she died two months later in February of 2006.

We were so blessed to know and love our Moms. Not everyone is as lucky as we were!

I believe your Mom's spirit will continue to live through you-----through your own life on this earth and in all the good things you do for others------through your laughter and your tears-----deep without your heart and within your soul.

Now we both have Moms in the other realm who will put in a good word for us and watch over us until it's time to meet again.

Hugs to you, my dear friend, and God bless you always. Susan

P.S. Just came in from shoveling and my fingers are the only frozen casualties I keep moving them to make sure they are not frostbitten. ha! It's doggone c-c-c-c-c-old outside.

  20. What a fabulous photo of your lovely Mum.
She looks like she loved life and you must be feeling so lost without her.
I lost my Mum just over three years ago, but like you I'm comforted to think that she's finally with my Father dancing like they used to after being apart for over 30 years.
Sending love, hugs and best wishes for you and your family at this sad time.
    xoxo

  21. The beautiful photo of your mom popped up in the blog roll of Made with love: and I was drawn to come visit your blog. Thank you for honoring your mom and sharing more of your life through this post. While my life experiences are no doubt different than yours, I join you in the celebration of your mom's life and care about your own as you cope with the changes in and around you. I was born in Lawrence, MA and have numerous cousins and one dear aunt and uncle in New England still although the main part of my 62 years was spent in MO, CA, TX, NY, and for the last six years in the Portland, OR area. Just glancing at some of your past posts invite me to feel so at home! I want to come back and visit more with you :) May you and yours know abundant blessings in 2014
